I just tried the full set of reins with loops for walk and trot today.
And they got worked hard – it was fairly windy and Tinkerbell was not in a mood for standing still. In fact every time I was asked to halt I think we either rode a small circle or did a couple turns on the forehand, with or without my agreement.
But she couldn’t snatch the reins out of my hands, and I felt able to mostly ignore my hands and focus on everything else – which hasn’t really been the case for possibly over a year. And that makes everything else work a bit better. I didn’t expect a pair of reins to make it easier to use my legs, but they have, just a little bit!
