Alice Reins Give Confidence to Young Rider

We received an enquiry from a lovely lady called Kate Stewart asking if Alice Reins could help her little girl Alexa to ride her pony Snoopy. Kate and I discussed the problems Alexa had when she rides. The problem was that Alexa’s hands hadn’t fully developed and that her hands were very small.  This caused Alexa to have grip issues and although she was already riding to a rather good standard for her age, this issue was stopping Alexa progressing onto other disciplines like show jumping etc.

After Kate’s initial email enquiry we had a telephone conversation.  Kate had been looking around for solutions to help Alexa and was talking with her instructor who had suggested Reinbows. Reinbows are a great product but would only attach onto rubber reins and were too thick for Alexa’s little hands and she found it difficult to grasp.

We make Alice Reins in 1/2″ width and so when Kate came back to me I suggested these to her.

It turned out that Kate, her husband Glen and Alexa were coming to my hometown of Stamford for a day out at the famous Burghley Horse Trials.  Perfect! We arranged to meet up and it was wonderful to actually meet Alexa in person.  My daughter Alice found great pleasure showing Alexa how she held her own Alice Reins and then Alexa held a pair of sample Alice Reins to see what she thought. Immediately Alexa found her “own way” of negotiating the loops even without having a pony attached to them!

We decided between us all that Alexa needed pony length short which would put her in good stead for riding her pony Snoopy and also riding bigger ponies as she grows.

Alexa rode with her Alice Reins for the first time and this is what her Mum Kate sent in after the event….

Hi
Well, she loves them!!! Played about to get them to the right length (think this clip was from when we had them too long!) and she had a great ride.
Thank you again

Thank you. She was jumping (small jumps) this morning without the reins so now she’s got them …..Watch out world!Alice Reins Give Confidence to Alexa

How wonderful to hear. We are looking very much forward to watching Alexa progress through the ranks and build in confidence, watch this space!

Below is the video clip that Kate sent in of Alexa and her adorable pony Snoopy!
